Anthropic adds reports so firms can judge AI spending value
In brief
According to TechCrunch, Anthropic announced on Wednesday reporting tools for enterprise customers. Managers can view a team's work over a date range, what it produced, how much it cost and where workflows broke down, plus improvement tips. Anthropic says it will not use this data for model training by default and is also adding pooled group budgets for token spend.
What it changes for an SME
If your SME does not use Anthropic tools, nothing changes. If you already do, the vendor says you will be able to link usage cost to output, see where workflows fail, and cap spend by team. Anthropic says it will not use this data for model training by default. A Jellyfish report cited by TechCrunch found spend on these coding tools has grown tenfold since the start of the year among its customers, to about 2% of engineering cost, so the main risk for you is a bill that grows faster than planned.
What you can do
- Check which AI coding tools your teams already use and what they cost this quarter.
- Ask your vendor whether it offers reporting by team, period and cost.
- Set a token-spend cap per team before you roll the tools out more widely.
