Google opens Gemini 4 Argon, with much longer model replies

In brief

According to Google, Gemini 4 Argon is now available to the general public through the API, AI Studio, the Gemini app, and Ultra and Pro subscriptions. The model was first limited to selected cybersecurity specialists. Google says it can produce up to one million output tokens, up from 64,000, and presents it as strong on specialised coding and cyber defence.

What it changes for an SME

If you already use Gemini or Google's API, you can now try this model on work that needs a very long answer in one go, such as a full report or a large code change. The source does not give prices, so the cost for a firm of 10 to 250 people will depend on your plan and how many tokens you generate. Nothing in this announcement addresses GDPR or the EU AI Act. Google says the public version refuses malicious requests, including cyberattacks and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear queries, but that does not replace your own rules on what staff may paste into the tool.

What you can do

  • Check whether Gemini 4 Argon already appears in your Gemini Pro, Ultra or AI Studio account.
  • Run one real internal task, a long document or a code batch, and note time and token use before you standardise on it.
  • Tell staff not to paste personal or confidential data into the model without a clear contractual basis.
