Shared token quota for ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Business

According to an OpenAI support page, the company will bring ChatGPT's Chat and Work environments closer in December and apply a shared token quota to Plus, Pro and Business plans. Usage in ChatGPT and Codex would draw from the same pool. The current ChatGPT app is due to disappear on 30 January 2027 in favour of a more integrated interface.

What it changes for an SME
If you use ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Business, your chats and automated work tasks would draw from the same token quota from December, according to OpenAI. A multi-step operation will consume more than a simple question; Le Monde Informatique reports that some high-end caps would also have been doubled, but an exhausted quota would mean waiting for renewal, upgrading the plan, or buying extra credits. You will be able to see the balance and renewal date in settings, and chats with Instant models would not count against the shared pool. The current ChatGPT app is due to end on 30 January 2027, so your staff will then need to switch to the new interface.
