Google tests a workplace Gemini agent, no date or price

In brief

According to Google, a new Gemini agent was presented on 8 October 2026 at the Gemini at Work conference. It can gather information from Workspace email and documents, and from Microsoft 365 or Slack if it has access, while following company permissions. It is not public yet and is being tested with some companies; Google gave no release date or price.

What it changes for an SME

For your SME, nothing is usable today: the agent remains in tests, with no date or price. According to Google, it will be offered gradually to professional customers, then to the general public, and it can be given an email address or its own storage. If it reads your Workspace email and files, or Microsoft 365 or Slack, access rights and human approvals matter more. There is no reason to buy or switch tools now.

What you can do

  • Ask your Google contact or IT provider whether you are in the professional tests.
  • Check who can access Workspace email and files, Slack and Microsoft 365.
  • Do not open a budget until a date and a price are published.
