Apple AI in Pages and Keynote: what it means for SMEs
In brief
According to Apple, an AI assistant using Apple and OpenAI models is coming to Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Apple says it can draft text, design slides and organize data. The feature is in beta on iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27, and the apps support Model Context Protocol on macOS 27 so third-party AI agents can connect.

What it changes for an SME
If your staff already use Pages, Keynote or Numbers on Apple devices, this assistant may save time on drafting, slides and spreadsheets once those devices run version 27 of the operating systems. Because it uses OpenAI models as well as Apple's, and because third-party agents can connect through the Model Context Protocol, internal files may leave your organisation. You will need to assess personal data processing under the GDPR and classify the tool under the EU AI Act before a wide rollout.
What you can do
- Check which company Macs, iPads and iPhones can run iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27.
- List the sensitive files staff must not send to the assistant or to third-party agents.
- Ask your DPO or IT lead to review OpenAI model use and the Model Context Protocol before any beta.
