Unreviewed AI content now risks your Google visibility
In brief
According to Next, Google removed nine French AI-generated news sites from Discover overnight on 3 to 4 November. According to 1492.vision, they accounted for about 2% of articles served by Discover in France. Google cited large-scale spam and concealment techniques; in early October it required human checks on the accuracy of AI-generated text before publication.

What it changes for an SME
If you use AI to write pages meant to attract Google traffic, publishing without a human review can now be treated as spam and cut your visits. Discover mainly affects news sites, but Google's rules on useful content, spam and human effort also apply to company websites. The cost is time for review and real author names, not a fine. Mass unreviewed content can lose more traffic than it brings.
What you can do
- Have a person review and correct every AI-generated text before it goes live.
- Check that your pages do not use fictitious author profiles and name a real person in charge.
- Watch for a drop in Google traffic and prepare a review request if content has already been penalized.
