Google cuts AI video prices 30% and extends clips to 15s

In brief

According to Google, Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash is now generally available through the Gemini API and Gemini for business. It can create videos of up to 15 seconds, compared with 10 seconds before, and the price is 30% lower at 0.07 dollars per second for 720p. Google also reports stronger use of reference images and edits through successive prompts, without regenerating the whole clip.

What it changes for an SME

For an SME with 10 to 250 employees, the main change is time and cost for short marketing, catalogue or explainer videos. According to Google, you can start at 360p or 720p, change one element in a later request, then raise the output to 1080p or 4K, with a length set from 3 to 15 seconds. Outputs include a SynthID watermark and use Google Cloud enterprise infrastructure. The announcement does not cover GDPR or the EU AI Act, and Google says fast sports action and complex physics still need work.

What you can do

  • Check whether your marketing needs fit clips of 3 to 15 seconds, such as social posts, product pages or short explainers.
  • Compare the stated price of 0.07 dollars per second at 720p with what you currently spend on similar short videos.
  • Test brand consistency on colours, packaging and faces, and check the SynthID watermark, before any customer-facing use.
